Comic Pages

Here are a few  of the projects I've worked on recently.

Commodore Dinosaur

Commodore Dinosaur is one of my oldest creations. Created while I was in college (circa 1987), he originally wasn't much more than a goofy name. It was only a after a few years of being in the printing industry and trying out self publishing that I actually wrote and drew a comic book story about him.  This mini-comic found it's way to an up and coming small press publisher and the character was optioned for a backup series in a new publication. I did five stories for this company before they folded.

Years later, while in graduate school, I revisited the character. A professor of a character design course suggested a complete redesign. She said that you had to start with a profile and make it so distinct it would become iconic. I experimented with a few different designs before settling on a Parasaurolophus. The large crest gave the character a profile unlike any other. Parasaurolophus' also have a smaller, more mobile jaw than most dinosaurs which allowed for a wider range of expressions.

Commodore Dinosaur is currently being published by Blue Moon Comics Group. The first issue is available from such online outlets as DriveThru Comics, Indy Planet and Global Comix. The second issue is currently being worked on and is coming soon!

Depthon

While working with Golden Era Comics, publisher Mark Davis asked me to work on a script by the legendary late Silver Age comic book writer and creator Steve Skeates (Teen Titans, Aquaman, etc...). This was to be a part of a special tribute issue featuring some of the last things the gentleman wrote. Depthon is an aquatic character much in the mode of Aquaman or the Sub-Mariner, except that Depthon's origin is a mystery, even to himself! I penciled, inked and lettered this final story for the Steve Skeates Special.

After Golden Era Comics folded, the Steve Skeates Special was acquired by Blue Moon Comics Group. It too is available from DriveThru Comics, Indy Planet and Global Comix.

The Glass Guardian

After completing the Depthon story for Golden Era Comics, publisher Mark Davis asked if I'd be interested in illustrating a story he'd written for Big Bang Comics. This featured his character The Glass Guardian, a character whose strange glass manipulating powers come from alien crystal. I penciled and inked Mark's story, Glass Guardian vs. The Drone Master,  which was then colored and lettered by Todd Tochioka
